Summary- Selena leaves her kids with a nanny when she goes to work. She has a high paying job, a charming husband, two loving kids, a big house and everything one can ask for. One day while commuting home from work, on the train she meets a stranger who introduces herself as Martha and confesses that she is having an affair with her boss. Selena has an uncanny sensation because she seems to be strangely familiar. In their conversation she blurts out to the stranger that she suspects that her husband Graham is having an affair with the nanny. As the conversation continues Martha eventually says that may be the nanny will just disappear and then Selena can just pretend that something like that never happened. Selena gets down at her station, assuming she will never meet the stranger again. Then the nanny disappears. As Selena and her husband is drawn into the case of the missing nanny and the rift in their marital life intensifies, she realizes that may be the stranger was not at all a "stranger".

Review- This is a psychological thriller where the story is told from the point of view of many characters. The author has done a great job in creating suspense throughout the book. She has focussed on issues like childhood trauma and how it can affect a person's life as a whole. The fact that a mother often chooses to make certain compromises for the well-being of her children has been beautifully pointed out. The book throws light on the irony of today's world where our seemingly perfect life on social media is most often not "perfect".
After the birth of her children, Selena used to be a full time mother who used to love caring for her two sons. However when her husband loses his job and coincidentally her best friend Beth offers her a lucrative job in her own company, she couldn't say no to it. Since then she has been the breadwinner of the family. When she sees her husband in an intimate position with the nanny through the nanny cam, she is dumbstruck. Unable to share the secret with any of her close ones but feeling overwhelmed at the same time, she spills the beans to the stranger. Graham is a charming and smart man whom Selena had married after breaking up with her then boyfriend. However few years into their marriage, Selena had discovered about his infidelity twice and they had seeked counseling both the times. So the affair with the nanny was not the first time he had been unfaithful. Therefore when the nanny disappears and Graham becomes a suspect, their relationship also starts going downhill.
Though I have enjoyed the book a lot, I would have loved it more if I could have known some more details about Charlie's early life. There were some parts which seemed a bit unrealistic to me.
This is definitely a great book. It is fast pacing and has the capacity to keep you on the edge of your seats. I would absolutely recommend this book to all thriller lovers and people who are going through a reading slump.
