Summary- It is May 2005 when eighty-six year old Eva lays eyes on a photograph in the New York Times and is surprised to see the book which she had lost sixty years ago. Then she is transported to war-torn Paris in the year 1942 when after her father was arrested, Eva and her mother had miraculously escaped to a small town called Aurignon. In that town, she along with Remy had helped many Jews in escaping to Switzerland by forging their documents. The book in the photograph is no ordinary one, as in it, is hidden a code which only Eva knows how to crack. However is she ready to unleash those chapters of her life which she had buried a long time ago?

Review- The plot as well as the way of presentation are equally good. It is quite evident that the author has done extensive research on the role of forgers during the Great War to write such a novel. Had I not read this, I would never have realized how something as illegal as forgery can have the capacity to save so many lives. As with any World War 2 book, just reading about the plight of Jews will give the reader goosebumps. This story also teaches us the power of true love and kindness.
Eva Traube, a twenty-three year old bibliophile, was pursuing her doctorate in English Literature and had no idea that her talent in drawing would help her to save so many lives in future. However, after there was mass arrest of Jews in Paris, in which her father was arrested, Eva and her mother had miraculously slipped out which forced them to leave the city to find refuge in Aurignon from where they could eventually escape to Switzerland. However God had some other plan for her because she met Remy in Aurignon and both of them together became involved in a noble cause of saving other helpless people like her.
This book will definitely be one of my all-time favourite historical fictions and it will stay with me for quite a long time. It is a must read book for all readers because history, romance, mystery, thrill- you name it and you have it all here.
